Invasive Species
Invasive species is an animal or plant that is not supposed to be in the ecosystem. Some one or something brought it there. It usually destroys or ruins the area.
Honeysuckle Shrub
The honeysuckle is an invasive species in a deciduous forest ecosystem because it hovers over plants and blocks their sun. Plants need sun to survive. It came from Russia, Korea and is very endangered in Japan. It was brought here to help stop erosion with its strong roots.
Wineberry
The wineberry is a major invasive species in the eastern forests. When a tree falls down, the wineberry grows between the the fallen trees. Then it starts to spread over other plants and blocks out their sunlight. The wineberry came from several countries including China, Korea and Japan. It came from those countries as an ornamental plant used on Christmas.
